Ceilings

We install new ceilings, repair sagging or cracked ones and fix water stains after the leak is found and stopped. Ceiling work takes careful lighting and sanding because flaws show up when light hits at an angle.

Painting

We paint interior walls, ceilings, trim, doors and cabinets, plus exterior siding and trim. Prep includes scraping loose paint, sanding, filling, caulking gaps and spot-priming or fully priming as the surface needs. We also stain decks and fences, and we handle turnover painting for rental units.

Drywall repair and painting in Minnesota: what to plan for

Drying time in winter and summer

Joint compound dries slowly in cold, damp basements and in humid summer weather. Rushing it leads to shrinkage and cracked seams, so we let each coat dry before the next.

Seasonal cracking

Many Minnesota homes get small cracks at corners and seams as the house dries out in winter and swells in summer. Fixing them the right way means re-taping and refinishing so the crack does not come back in a season.

Exterior paint needs the right weather

Most exterior paints need air and surface temperatures above a minimum, often around 50 degrees, and they need dry conditions for the paint to cure. That limits the exterior painting season here to late spring through early fall.

Find the leak first

A water stain on a ceiling is a symptom. Before we repair the drywall, we track down the source. In Minnesota that is often an ice dam at the eaves, a roof flashing leak or a bathroom drain line above. If the drywall stays wet, the stain will bleed through new paint and mold can start behind the wall. We confirm the area is dry with a moisture meter, replace wet insulation and use a stain-blocking primer over any remaining marks.

Older homes

Houses built before 1978 may have lead paint. Sanding or scraping those surfaces requires lead-safe work practices.

Drywall repair and painting questions

Can you match the texture on my ceiling?

In most cases, yes. We match common wall and ceiling textures by hand and with spray equipment, and we test on a scrap or small area first. A patch blends best when the whole surface gets fresh paint afterward.

Do you remove popcorn ceilings?

We can scrape textured ceilings and refinish them smooth. Older popcorn texture can contain asbestos, so it should be tested before anyone disturbs it. If testing comes back positive, removal has to be handled by a qualified abatement contractor.

Why do my drywall seams and nail pops keep showing up?

Nail pops and cracked seams usually come from framing movement, seasonal humidity swings or fasteners that were not set right the first time. We refasten with screws, re-tape the joint where needed and refinish so the repair holds.

Can you paint my kitchen cabinets?

Yes. Cabinet painting involves cleaning, sanding and priming the boxes, doors and drawer fronts before applying a durable finish. The doors are usually painted off the boxes so they get even coverage.

Do you replace drywall after a leak?

Yes. We cut out the wet or stained drywall, make sure the framing and insulation behind it are dry, replace what is needed and finish and paint to match. Larger water or fire damage is handled through our restoration services.
